so i just watched the end of the stupid vp debate. even worse, I just watched Rachel Maddow and Pat Buchanen talk about them, and they were debating over it. The question was, is it better to be boring and right (Biden) or entertaining and wrong (Palin)? Who are these people who need to be entertained by our leaders? It's not a movie!!!!! We want them to be right! We want them to be knowledgeable and understand diplomacy and be able to function at high levels! We don't care if they can tell funny stories, that's just an added bonus if, and only if, they can do all the other things really, really well!

The desire to have a beer with them is really wrong! You shouldn't want to hang out with your President unless you are another Washington-type person. You don't want your national leader to be your neighbor. If you doubt that statement, go outside and look at your neighbor!

For christ's sake, what is wrong with people? A President is a very special type of person who doesn't come along every day. It doesn't mean they can't understand where you are coming from, because I think Obama does in a way that Mr. I-can't-remember-how-many-houses-I-own doesn't, but you have to have a certain drive and ambition that only occurs in very few people.
